Os-Asset

Asset
As the rarest precious metal in the world, osmium is not only a popular material for exclusive jewelry, but also a coveted tangible investment asset.
Crystalline osmium has experienced a considerable increase in value since trading began, not least due to its extremely low occurrence: Crystallization is scheduled to be completed by 31.12.2026. The raw material is the rarest stable element and - in its crystalline form - the most valuable precious metal in the world. By comparison, the total amount of gold already mined is around 10,000 cubic meters, or around 200,000 tons. In contrast to gold, it is unlikely that osmium built in jewelry will return to the investment market: Once it has been processed into jewelry, it cannot simply be melted down and recast like other metals. This would cause the osmium piece to lose its unique crystal surface, the fingerprint that is required for its certification in the Osmium World Database, and an important source of its value. As a result, there are fewer and fewer new osmium pieces available for the jewelry and luxury market, an effect named osmium Thin-out.

Absolute security
The trade with crystalline certified osmium is strictly regulated: The German Osmium Institute is exclusively responsible for marketing and certification. The registration of osmium pieces in the osmium database, clearly assigned identification codes and the documentation of changes of ownership offer effective protection against theft. In addition, osmium is absolutely forgery-proof due to its physical properties. And due to its unique crystal structure, it is rarely recycled because it is then no longer possible to prove its authenticity.

Big Bang
All these factors make osmium one of the most interesting and promising tangible assets. This is also reflected in the price trend of recent years, which can be followed on websites such as osmium-preis.com, finanzwelt.de or boerse-am-sonntag.de: Since 2017, prices for crystalline osmium have been rising continuously by around 15 percent per year. In the long term, tangible asset investors are speculating that osmium will become increasingly difficult to acquire. This could be due to a shortage caused by industrial processing, particularly by jewelers and goldsmiths. Experts anticipate a literal osmium "big bang": as soon as the entire global stock of osmium has been sold, only institutional and private investors in kind will supply the (jewelry) market with osmium. This scenario is supported and reinforced by the thinning of the osmium stock. This could probably lead to an even greater price change.
